Land Art Generator Initiative: Youth Design Program Workshop: Monday, April 27, 2015 9:00am – 12:00pm
Learn how middle and high school students can build a strong foundation in renewable energy science by designing public artwork that integrates cutting edge technologies. The Land Art Generator Initiative (LAGI) is offering a unique set of tools for use by educators in the 2015-2016 school year as a part of their international LAGI design competition. Every two years LAGI asks interdisciplinary teams to conceive of large-scale works of public art that also function to generate clean energy for hundreds of homes (artwork as sustainable infrastructure).
For the LAGI 2016 competition they will be offering a Youth Design Program with a prize award to the students that submit the best idea. The design brief is being developed alongside teachers with a strong STEM integration background and will consist of ready-made exercises that teachers can use to engage their students with energy science, environmental sustainability, and systems thinkings, all while developing their own public art ideas. The results of the LAGI youth competition will be published online and in book form, and will be exhibited nationally and internationally!
Don’t miss the opportunity for your students to be a part of this cutting-edge experience!!
